“Just keep moving your feet.”
That’s what my football coach told me years ago during practice when I was a running back in high school.
“Nothing in the world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent. The slogan Press On! has solved and always will solve the problems of the human race.” – Calvin Coolidge
In my own personal experiences I have found that most of the things that I have accomplished or goals I have attained have not been because I am the smartest or the most talented. Instead it came from pure grit and my ability to keep pushing forward at all costs.
Many time I had no idea what I was doing I just kept going. When I started a home care business or investing in real estate I took my bumps along the way with many missteps and mistakes. The key was I never gave up. If you think about it I’m sure you can recall several instances when you almost gave up but didn’t and surprised yourself with what you were able to achieve.
Right now the single biggest challenge in my life is my job situation. I just keep trying to find the right gig. Some days are tough since I despise my job but I just keep searching, interviewing, and networking. I know eventually I will find a better job.
If you want to do something just start today. Right now. This instant. That’s how I started this blog. I know that I am not a great writer but I decided that if I was able going to figure out how to do this I just needed to get started and do it! And here we are. While my writing is still not the best and I am still trying to find my voice I am enjoying the journey.
So get out there, and push forward!
Make that sales call. invest in that stock, write that article you’ve been thinking about, enroll in the class you have been considering! You know what you need to do.
Keep Moving Your Feet!
